Notes from the May 13th DrPH Student Meeting
Report back from DrPH Management Committee regarding DrPH Program Objectives: Committee responded favorably to the objectives with the suggestion that research be added.

Ellie Schindleman: She will be joining the SPH as Field Placement Coordinator and Lecturer, and will be housed in the Center for Public Health Practice but will assist with the DrPH in Action and Leadership programs.
Fall Retreat Agenda:

It was suggested that an outside facilitator and recorder be hired for retreat.
Last year’s working groups will be asked to prepare a report for the retreat.
Build on work done by groups from last year’s retreat.
Platform: Accomplishments, Strategic Planning, Dean’s vision & where DrPH Program fits in that vision
Visibility - get word out regarding DrPH Program

Other Items:

Pamphlet: It was suggested that the DrPH pamphlet be revised in coordination with the DrPH website to be made available for tables at conventions.

Website: Marlon has generously volunteered to work with the website professional, whose services have been donated to DrPH by Heather.

Advisory Committee Members: Nilda Chong, Mia Luluquisen, Cheri Pies, Ellie Schindelman, Melanie Tervalon, Vicki Breckwich, Heather, Kuiper, Sonja Mackenzie, Marlon Maus.

Fellowships etc: It was requested that information regarding fellowships, jobs, resources, notices and contacts on campus be made available to the doctoral students by posting in the DrPH Bulletin. A large number of resources are in the process of being compiled and will be sent separately in the near future. In the meantime here are a few campus resources:

Centers: A summary of information regarding all the centers connected with SPH was requested and, once compiled, will be sent out separately.

Yearly Assessments: Turn your DrPH program yearly assessments in to Claire.

P.S. Message from Merry: Hi all, and hope the summer is starting well for you. I wanted you to know that Julia and I (and some other faculty) are working hard on an application for a CDC training program for pre and post docs that provides $1 million a year in support for 3 years! Obviously this would have to be divided many ways in the School, but with Julia at the helm and me doing a fair bit of the writing you can be sure the DrPH program will be well represented...it would start next Oct. if we get it so keep fingers crossed! I'll be out most all next week and then get surgery the following Weds. but otherwise will be around.
